The New York Knicks’ decision to waive point guard Brandon Jennings on Monday, Feb. 27 came as a surprise to many around the league. The move was made to allow Jennings to play a bigger role for a more competitive team.
It also opened space to sign guard Chasson Randle and give more playing time to Ron Baker.
Though his tenure was short with the Knicks, Jennings brought energy and played hard day in and day out, which enabled him to become a fan favorite.

1. October 10th, 2016: vs. Wizards
This preseason game was the exact moment when New York Knicks fans fell in love with Jennings. Although he only scored 11 points that night, he brought back the sense of toughness that Knicks fans love.
Known for being a tough player, Jennings got into Wizards guard Casper Ware’s head, causing Ware to go at Jennings and cause a double-technical to be called.

2. October 20th, 2016: at Nets
In yet another preseason game where Jennings was shown love from the Knicks crowd, this time the team took on there cross town rival Brooklyn Nets. Jennings had a solid eight-point, six-rebound, six-assist, and four-steal game.
What really drew the attention from the fans was Jennings’ prowess and emotion displayed on the court.
After knocking down a game-tying two-pointer, Jennings pulled off a shimmy dance move. It invigorated Knicks fans and brought momentum to the team, enabling them to pull off a 116-111 victory.
3. December 31, 2016: at Rockets
After a slow start to the year, the underachieving Knicks looked to get a win before the New Year chimed in. Taking on the explosive Houston Rockets with Kristaps Porzingis and Courtney Lee both out, the Knicks turned to Jennings to start at the guard position.
His insertion into the starting lineup proved wise for the team, as Jennings exploded and put up his best outing as a Knick. He ended up with 32 points and seven assists.
Unfortunately the Knicks didn’t come out with the win losing, 129-122. Nevertheless, the explosion of Jennings led the fans to see him as a somewhat promising for the future.
Following his departure, Jennings released humble statements of his love for the city. He thanked the franchise and fans for an opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing as a Knick in the Garden.
