5. Breathing New Life

New York Knicks fans rarely need a reason to show up in support of their team, but the 2016-17 NBA regular season has tested their limits. New York has fallen short of expectations, and one could argue that effort is the biggest issue.

Though it’s not necessarily guaranteed, it could be argued that the signing of Randle will reinvigorate Madison Square Garden.

New York has a way of throwing its support behind promising young players who show unfiltered signs of passion and commitment. That was the case with Jeremy Lin and, to a lesser extent, the short-lived tenure of Jimmer Fredette.

With the Knicks providing fans with limited reasons for optimism, Randle is the type of invigorating force who can help restore the faith and optimism.

If Madison Square Garden doesn’t take to Randle, then the locker room could still benefit. Adding a fresh face means adding a new dynamic, which is exactly what the perpetually losing Knicks need in the midst of an atrocious season.

The Knicks are in the midst of a brutal season, but Randle can provide fresh legs and a necessary infusion of optimism.
