Carmelo Anthony

The New York Knicks entered the encounter with the Philadelphia 76ers with a desperate need for a victory. Not only have the Knicks been losing on a consistent basis, but the previous encounter with Philadelphia ended on a buzzer-beater by TJ McConnell.

With New York in dire need of a victory, Anthony had one of its most dominant performances of the 2016-17 regular season.

Anthony torched the 76ers for 37 points, six rebounds, one offensive board, two assists, and one block in 37 minutes of action. He shot 15-of-25 from the field, 2-of-7 from 3-point range, and 5-of-7 from the free throw line in what was a stellar showing.

New York needed to step up and secure a victory, and it was Anthony’s contributions that allowed his team to do exactly that.

Anthony’s scoring proficiency has gone unquestioned, but his stamina and defense have been issues. He stepped up on both ends of the floor against Philadelphia, however, and converted a clutch game-winner to give New York the win.

Anthony is one of the most clutch players in the NBA as far as game-winning shot attempts are concerned, and he proved it again on Feb. 25.
