Jrue Holiday, UFA

It’s going to be difficult to convince Jrue Holiday to leave a New Orleans Pelicans team that has two superstar big men in DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. For that matter, it may be difficult to convince Justin Holiday to not join his brother down in New Orleans.

If Holiday is willing to leave New Orleans, however, it stands to reason that he’s going to be one of Phil Jackson’s top targets in 2017.

Holiday checks the boxes on the list of what Jackson prefers in a point guard: size, defensive prowess, and the ability to space the floor. The former All-Star stands at 6’4″ and 205 pounds with a career 3-point field goal percentage of .369.

Holiday is also regarded as a quality defensive player who can rack up steals, contest shots with his size and length, and keep his man in front of him.

Injuries have been an issue for Holiday, which could either damage his market value or keep New York away. He’ll turn 27 years of age in June, however, and is in the midst of one of the best seasons of his career.

Holiday is averaging 17.8 points, 8.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1.7 3-point field goals per 36 minutes in his contract year.
