Reggie Jackson has become one of the most polarizing point guards in the NBA. During his tenure with Oklahoma City Thunder, Jackson was heralded for his play on the court and panned for his abrasiveness in the locker room.

In the third season of his tenure with the Detroit Pistons, the same issues have come to light. That’s resulted in the emergence of somewhat surprising trade rumors.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN New York, the Pistons have engaged the Magic in trade discussions revolving around Jackson.

"The Detroit Pistons have discussed a trade with the Orlando Magic that would send point guard Reggie Jackson to the Magic in exchange for a package headlined by D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green, according to league sources."

If all it takes is a combination of D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green to land Jackson, then the New York Knicks could conceivably outbid Orlando.

If the Knicks are willing to part ways with Derrick Rose, Jackson could be a realistically attainable target. New York would likely have to include popular big man Kyle O’Quinn in the trade, but this is an example of a team having to give to get.

Jackson is an all-around contributor who’s entering the prime of his career and could be the ideal long-term complement to Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.

Jackson broke out with averages of 18.8 points and 6.2 assists in just 30.3 minutes per game during the 2016-17 NBA regular season. His numbers have dipped during what’s been a tough 2016-17 campaign, but he’s still averaging 19.3 points and 7.0 assists per 36 minutes.

It may be fair to question whether or not Jackson has character issues, but the talent level is clearly worth investing in.
