Superstar point guard Stephen Curry isn’t going to leave the Golden State Warriors. If he does, it’s hard to imagine the two-time MVP would decide to leave a super team in the Golden State Warriors to join a rebuilding team like the New York Knicks.

Nevertheless, Curry will set the market for point guards in 2017 and thus deserves to appear on the list of pending free agents playing in the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.

The working theory is that the only team with anything close to a shot at stealing Curry from Golden State is the Charlotte Hornets. Curry grew up in Charlotte and went on to play college ball in North Carolina with the Davidson Wildcats.

Even the Hornets have slim odds, however, which should spell this out as clear as possible: New York isn’t a factor in the Curry sweepstakes.

It’s entirely possible that the Warriors will self-combust and experience chemistry issues that push Curry out of Oakland. Possible doesn’t necessarily mean likely, but if you’re a dreamer, then there’s something to hold onto.

Chances are, Curry will be rewarded for the bargain deal he was playing on over the past four years with a max contract from the Warriors during the summer of 2017.
