3. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks began the 2016-17 NBA regular season at 3-15, but have since gone 19-19 to improve to 22-34. That may be a terrible record, but it’s also just 3.0 games back of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

If the Mavericks are hoping to complete a push for the postseason, then a trade surrounding Derrick Rose would be a mutually beneficial maneuver.

For the New York Knicks, this trade would facilitate the attempt to get younger. Unfortunately, getting a deal like this done would likely cost the Knicks one of the most beloved players on the roster: Kyle O’Quinn.

The appeal would be adding a sharpshooting combo guard in Seth Curry, an athletic young two-way player in Dwight Powell, and Deron Williams’ expiring contract

Dallas may be opposed to trading two of its young building blocks, but Rose and O’Quinn could fit the longstanding vision of trying to help Dirk Nowitzki win. For New York, Curry would fit Jeff Hornacek’s system to perfection and Powell is a competitive two-way player with bounce.

It’s fair to question whether or not the Mavericks would accept this trade, but O’Quinn would fill the void in the middle and Rose has the potential to be Dallas’ long-term point guard.
