Derrick Rose

The New York Knicks have been able to rely on Derrick Rose for consistent production as a scorer in 2016-17. There have been some issues early in 2016-17, but generally speaking, he’s been one of the better players on the roster.

Against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rose continued to thrive as one of the most dynamic slashers in the NBA—and that was only part of the appeal.

Rose played 34 minutes and recorded 24 points, five assists, five rebounds, one offensive board, and one steal. He struggled at the free throw line, shooting just 6-of-10, but stepped up by going 9-of-15 from the field.

Most impressive of all is the fact that Rose was consistent with his midrange jump shot, including a number of vicious step-backs.

Rose has been consistently clutch throughout the 2016-17 season, and this game was no exception. He made huge buckets when New York’s offense stalled and, even when he missed free throws, he still slowed the game down and got to the line.

There’s only so much one can realistically say to defend Rose’s free throw shooting, but he was sensational in most other phases.

Rose and the Knicks are 10-9 and guaranteed to be .500 or better at the quarter-mark of the 2016-17 NBA regular season.
