Brandon Jennings

The New York Knicks were in dire need of an offensive spark with Karl-Anthony Towns going off for 47 points. Though he may be overlooked by the masses, it was Brandon Jennings who stepped up with an invaluable performance on both ends.

Jennings was huge as a scorer, facilitator, and defender with clutch plays in all three areas of this vital game.

Jennings finished with 12 points, seven assists, two rebounds, one offensive board, and two steals in 34 minutes. He was a +8 during a two-point win and shot 5-of-14 from the field—most of which was within the rhythm of the game—and made two huge 3-point field goals.

Jennings’ biggest play, however, may have been the chase-down steal he had on Ricky Rubio when Minnesota was driving and thriving.

Jennings was more aggressive as a scorer, which is exactly what head coach Jeff Hornacek asked him to be. He’s a skilled passer and a pest on defense, but it’s his ability to score that New York will need most in 2016-17.

It feels as though Jennings has been building towards a massive bounce-back season, and this game was a display of just how dynamic he can be.
