Carmelo Anthony

At one point during the game against the Brooklyn Nets, Carmelo Anthony was shooting 3-of-13 from the field. He proceeded to make six consecutive shots and a pair of free throws to single-handedly bring the New York Knicks back into it.

It wasn’t a pretty performance early, but Anthony showed just how dominant he can still be when aggressive and focused on scoring.

Anthony finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one block, and a steal in 34 minutes against the Nets. He shot 9-of-22 from the field, 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Without Anthony’s explosive third quarter and hustle on the boards, the Knicks may not have ever climbed back into this game.

Anthony still hasn’t found the form that the Knicks need to see from him during the 2016-17 regular season. His consistency will be the key to New York either becoming a postseason-caliber team or falling short of that distinction.

The crowd at Madison Square Garden was understandably disappointed with New York’s weak effort, but Anthony gave them reason to cheer.
