Brandon Jennings

The numbers will say whatever they say, but Brandon Jennings was the star of the 2016 NBA preseason. His flashy passing, crafty ball-handling, fearless shooting, and postseason-esque energy captivated Madison Square Garden.

The New York Knicks will need Jennings to find his shot in 2016-17, but it’s become abundantly clear that he’s ready to step up.

Jennings recorded at least five assists in three of his six preseason appearances. That includes the preseason finale, when Jennings tallied eight points, six assists, six rebounds, and four steals in 25 minutes against the Brooklyn Nets.

Jennings’ ability to facilitate the offense and create transition opportunities with his activity on defense define his value to the Knicks.

Jennings shot poorly throughout the preseason, but he displayed too many positive traits to hold that against him. He ruptured his left achilles tendon in January of 2015, played 48 games the following season, and rediscovered his speed and quickness this offseason.

If Jennings can find his footing as a scorer, he could win both Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player.
