New York Knicks: Players Who Stood Out Against Brooklyn Nets
Kyle O’Quinn
It appears as though Kyle O’Quinn has become aware of the fact that he was losing the race to be the New York Knicks’ backup center. After Willy Hernangomez and Marshall Plumlee made waves early in the preseason, however, O’Quinn stole the momentum during the final two games.
Fresh off of recording 13 points and eight rebounds against the Boston Celtics, O’Quinn stepped up with another big game against the Brooklyn Nets.
O’Quinn finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, three offensive boards, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. It’s the second consecutive outing during which O’Quinn flashed all-around offensive proficiency and potential as a defensive player.
The Knicks will need to see more consistency in O’Quinn’s approach to defense, but if he can maintain it, he may just be the first big man off the bench.
O’Quinn scored nine of his 13 points during a critical stretch in the third quarter. With the game tied at 78, O’Quinn scored nine points in a span of one minute and 49 seconds—an explosive stretch that altered the trajectory of the game.
O’Quinn added another two points in the fourth quarter to help the Knicks capture momentum and win the game.
