Courtney Lee

Courtney Lee was one of the standout performers at the New York Knicks’ open practice on Sunday, October 16. He clearly found his rhythm, as Lee ended his scoring drought with a big game against the Boston Celtics.

The Knicks don’t need Lee to be an elite scorer in 2016-17, but knowing he can generate offense like he did against Boston is valuable.

Lee finished with 11 points and two rebounds in just 14 minutes of action—numbers that translate to 28.3 points per 36 minutes. He did so on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and made his only attempt from 3-point land.

Lee can be one of the Knicks’ glue guys as a consistent defender and a timely offensive player who can produce instant offense when New York’s stars go cold.

Lee’s reputation has always been misleading. He’s far more than just a 3-and-D specialist. He consistently creates his own offense in the half court by utilizing his solid handles to create space and attack driving lanes.

Lee has finally come to life during the 2016 NBA preseason. That’s great news for New York.
