Scoring

Courtney Lee isn’t the type of player who’s going to average 20 points per game for the New York Knicks. He’s incredibly efficient, however, and head coach Jeff Hornacek runs the perfect system to help Lee thrive in the ways he’s capable.

Beyond the numbers, Lee will provide the Knicks with consistency and reliability as it pertains to spacing the floor and attacking the rack.

Lee has a career average of 9.6 points in 27.3 minutes played per game. That comes out to an average of 12.7 points per 36 minutes, which is a solid number when complemented by his efficient career slash line of .450/.384/.846.

Since entering the NBA in 2008-09, there hasn’t been much fluctuation as far as Lee’s production is concerned.

Lee averaged 9.6 points on a slash line of .454/.378/.839 during the 2015-16 season—almost identical to his career marks. That’s a fair starting point for his 2016-17 projection.

The presence of four favored scorers—Carmelo Anthony, Brandon Jennings, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick Rose—could hurt Lee’s numbers, but it should actually create better opportunities.

Realistic Expectation: 10.0 PPG, .450/.380/.840
