Health + Availability

As it pertains to basketball, the biggest question that Derrick Rose will face in 2016-17 will be about his health and availability. It’s clear that he can still contribute when healthy, but he needs to be on the court in order for that to matter.

The bad news is that Rose has undergone multiple procedures on his knees, but the good news is that he’s improved his availability in three consecutive seasons.

Rose played in a grand total of zero games in 2012-13 before playing in 10 games in 2013-14. 10 games is nothing to get excited about, but Rose did up his availability to 51 regular season and 12 postseason outings in 2014-15.

Following a 2014-15 campaign during which he played 63 total games, Rose made 66 regular season appearances during the 2015-16 season.

Rose has been one of the biggest health risks in the NBA over the past five years, but he’s found some stability. He missed just 16 games in 2015-16, including two for precautionary purposes once Chicago was eliminated from the playoffs.

It’s too soon to tell whether or not Rose has completely escaped the injury bug, but he’s trending in the right direction.

Realistic Expectation: 65 Games Played
