Free-Throw Shooting

2015-2016: Jose Calderon – 87 FT%

Prediction for 2016-2017: Courtney Lee – 85 FT%

Courtney Lee is very good and consistent from the free throw line. A career 84 percent free throw shooter, he has improved steadily in this area since his rookie season in Orlando. With the New York Knicks, he’ll be asked to create and drive the lane more often.

Hopefully he will be able to draw fouls and get more opportunities from the free throw stripe.

At the very least, it’s reasonable to assume that Carmelo Anthony won’t lead the Knicks in three or four major categories. Injuries withstanding, the 2016-2017 New York Knicks have a chance to be a very exciting team and a playoff contender.

A lot will ride on the three new acquisitions: Rose, Noah, and Lee. Yet, the continued development and improvement of 21-year old Porzingis is what will determine this teams overall success.

There will be a lot of questions and opinions about who will lead the Knicks in different statistical categories, yet one thing is certain: this team will be better than last year.
