Colliding With Curry

Date: January 20, 2016
Opponent: Golden State Warriors
Result: 125-94, L
Stat Line: 30 minutes, 29 points, 2 assists, 1 rebounds, 12/22 FG, 5/5 FT

The ultimate test for Derrick Rose in 2015-16 was his clash with two-time defending NBA MVP Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors has become the standard for scoring by a contemporary point guard.

Though the Chicago Bulls lost a lopsided contest, it took Rose just 30 minutes to reestablish his lethality as a scorer against the most decorated point guard in the NBA.

Rose didn’t offer much as far as facilitating is concerned, but he reminded fans around the NBA of how lethal he can be as a scorer. He attacked at will against one of the most dominant defensive teams in the Association.

Golden State won this game in a landslide, but the duel between Curry and Rose was one of the most memorable encounters of the 2016-17 season.

Rose finished with 29 points in 30 minutes on 12-of-22 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 mark from the free throw line. It was a statement game from a player who wanted to make it known he’s not a relic of the past.

The competition doesn’t get any more stiff than Curry at point guard. Rose proved he can still hold his own.
