5. Facilitating

The New York Knicks don’t have many scorers coming off of the bench, which is why Brandon Jennings should thrive. There are shooters around him, including Justin Holiday and Lance Thomas, but he’s the reserve who will be tasked with creating for others.

With Jennings’ ability to facilitate and score, he’ll be responsible for leading New York’s second unit—a role that he’s capable of filling and a burden that should earn him praise if carried.

Jennings has a career average of 5.9 assists per game, but he entered the injury-plagued 2015-16 campaign at 6.2 assists per contest. He also boasts a career average of just 2.3 turnovers per game, which is a testament to his ball-handling.

With a career assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.57, Jennings can be trusted to run the offense without running the risk of consistently turning the ball over.

Jennings is proficient in running the pick and roll, which fits well with the 2016-17 Knicks. Head coach Jeff Hornacek is a proponent of the play and the roster is flush with big men who have size and energy in abundance.

Whether he’s working with the starters or the reserves, Jennings is more than capable of facilitating an offense with explosive upside.

Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis should be the primary beneficiaries.
