Carmelo Anthony: What Makes An NBA Champion?
What Does The Future Hold?
In conclusion, I don’t believe that Carmelo Anthony is better than either Kevin Durant or Dwyane Wade. Anthony might be more talented than Wade at this stage of his career, but Wade’s overall accomplishments are far superior.
Chris Paul is a more well-rounded player and is often thought of as a better leader, but I don’t think he receives the criticism Anthony does even though he has played with more talent throughout his career, at least with the Clippers.
Nevertheless, Anthony can be proud of a lot when he looks back on his NBA career. However, his timeline for winning a championship is shrinking year by year.
Both he and the Knicks will have a lot of work to do if they’re ever going to be serious contenders in an Eastern Conference with LeBron James. Despite this, when we compare Anthony to his current peers, rather than just looking at postseason appearances, wins and losses, it’s always important to look at the environment around a player.
Champions are made from the top-down. This includes management, coaching, and players. Phil Jackson is hoping to provide support to parts of this equation, but there’s no escaping it.
Anthony must do the rest.
