3. Improving Health

Derrick Rose played a grand total of 10 games between the 2012-13 and 2013-14 NBA seasons. That followed a 2011-12 campaign during which he was active for just 39 of 66 regular season games.

Here’s what no one seems to be talking about: Rose has played upwards of 60 games in back-to-back seasons.

Rose played in 51 of a possible 82 regular season games in 2014-15. That isn’t exactly spectacular, but he was also active—and productive—in all 12 of the Bulls’ postseason games that season.

Coupled with the 66 games he played in 2015-16, Rose has been available in upwards of 60 games in each of the past two seasons.

Rose still hasn’t reached the point where his past injuries and overall bill of health can be an afterthought. Though his injuries in 2015-16 weren’t severe, the risk is legitimate enough that he could be injured somewhere along the way in 2016-17.

For the sake of objectivity, one simply cannot ignore the fact that Rose has been working his way back to full health.
