4. Proven Postseason Performer

As previously alluded to, Derrick Rose has a remarkable tendency to play up to the level of his competition. He often goes toe-to-toe with the best point guards in the NBA, but that isn’t his only claim to present-day fame.

Rose has proven on a consistent basis that he’s more than comfortable stepping up during the NBA Playoffs.

Rose has averaged at least 20.0 points per game in four of his five trips to the NBA Playoffs. That includes 2015, when he averaged 20.3 points, 6.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.9 3-point field goals made.

For perspective, Rose led Chicago to Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015.

Rose’s efficiency dips in the postseason, but that isn’t nearly as important as it seems. For those whom it does concern, Jeff Hornacek’s system should help Rose to score with far more efficiency than the isolation sets he was forced into in Chicago enabled him to.

A player who plays up to his level of competition and thrives in the playoffs? Sounds like a perfect fit.
