4. Offensive Versatility

The most appealing aspect of Chaz Williams’ game is his offensive versatility. He’s a gifted facilitator, capable 3-point shooter, crafty ball-handler, and fearless finisher in the paint.

It’s only fitting that the 5’9″ Williams has been speaking with 2016 All-Star Isaiah Thomas as he pushes towards earning an NBA contract.

"“It’s only been a few short guys to do it. Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas, who I’m close friends with, thank God for them guys opening the door for it. Hopefully a team has the same confidence in me. I’ve been speaking to Isaiah Thomas a lot and he just tells me to go out there and show everybody I’m bigger than my size.”"

That’s a great friend and mentor to have.

Williams finished his final year at UMass, 2013-14, with averages of 15.6 points, 6.9 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 3-point field goals made per game. He did so on efficient 36.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Most impressively, Williams got the Minutemen back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.

As it pertains to his D-League upside, Williams’ ability to facilitate and score make him an intriguing offensive player. He can help push the pace or slow the offense down, which is a balance that not many possess.

Williams’ size may concern some, but with the proper coaching, his offensive skill set can become even more dynamic.
