5. New York Connections

If you aren’t a fan yet, then you should appreciate the fact that Chaz Williams went to high school in Brooklyn. He attended Bishop Ford, began his college career at Hofstra, and then eventually moved on to UMass.

Playing high school basketball isn’t Williams’ only connection to New York—or to the Knicks, for that matter.

"“Last summer, I played with the Knicks at the Terminal 23 so I got quite acquainted with those guys. KP, ‘Melo, and all of them so I feel comfortable.”"

Those are solid connections to have.

Williams knows all about the pressure and difficulties of playing basketball in New York City. Westchester is on the outside of the city, yes, but the point remains and still holds value and merit.

Even some of the most talented players in franchise history have struggled to handle the grind of life in New York.

With Williams knowing what to expect from the outside world, he can focus more on basketball. With the skills to impress in practice, and the open-mindedness to take coaching along the way, he can excel.

Having a New York connection certainly helps given the rabid nature of this city.
