Knicks Rumors: Reasons To Love Chasson Randle Signing
5. Athleticism
The most appealing aspect of the New York Knicks’ improvement is how much more athletic this team is than the 2015-16 squad. Teams don’t need to be explosive to win in the NBA, but New York was genuinely slow a season ago.
In the spirit of improving the team’s transition execution, the Knicks signed a player with highly above-average athleticism: Chasson Randle.
The Knicks have improved athletically by acquiring the likes of Mindaugas Kuzminskas, Courtney Lee, and Derrick Rose. Brandon Jennings is going to play his first full season since tearing his achilles tendon, however, and the results are unpredictable.
Even Rose has become limited in his explosiveness by the number of knee injuries that he’s sustained throughout his career.
When Randle takes the court, one of the most appealing traits he’ll provide is athleticism in the open floor. He can lead the fast break for Jeff Hornacek, thus helping New York push the pace and get easy buckets.
Randle isn’t as explosive as Rose once was, but his end-to-end speed and 39.5″ max vertical leap would make him a valuable transition asset.
