Training camp is on the horizon and the New York Knicks are making the necessary preparations. With that critical date approaching, team president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills are looking for every possible diamond in the rough.

That diamond may have been unearthed on Wednesday, August 3 when the Knicks signed free agent point guard Chasson Randle to a partially guaranteed one-year deal.

This doesn’t guarantee Randle a roster spot, but it will give him an opportunity to make the main roster through training camp.

Randle will join the likes of Ron Baker and J.P. Tokoto, who both recently signed contracts, at training camp. Every player will offer some reason for intrigue, but only one can be brought onboard.

The popular choice appears to be Randle.

The fans have spoken, but would it be the right choice?

Randle broke out at the 2016 Summer League in Orlando for the Knicks. He averaged 18.3 points, 5.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.0 steals as he almost single-handedly revitalized what was a dreadful offensive unit.

Intriguing as that may be, shining at Summer League and excelling in the NBA are two completely different animals.

Here are five reasons why you should pull for Randle to make the transition.
