2. Defensive Potential

The modern era that emphasizes perimeter shooting more than any before. As a direct result, the value of athletic defensive players is as high and significant as it’s ever been before.

Though J.P. Tokoto is still finding himself on that end, his defensive potential is absolutely immense.

If Tokoto plays shooting guard at the next level, he’d have the physical gifts to be a lockdown defender. As an explosive athlete, that alone could make him an invaluable member of the New York Knicks’ transition defense.

In the half court, his size and length at 6’6″ with a 6’10” wingspan would make him a monster in the passing lanes.

Tokoto needs to become more disciplined on the defensive end of the floor before he lives up to his potential. He tends to be too careless in the passing lanes and must better time himself when he goes for a swipe steal.

If Jeff Hornacek and the Knicks can help Tokoto live up to his full potential on defense, New York could find a defensive weapon.
