5. Depth

The New York Knicks have a consistently reliable shooting guard in Courtney Lee. New York also has a star small forward in Carmelo Anthony, who recently cracked the Top 30 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Beyond Anthony and Lee is a promising duo, but neither Justin Holiday nor Mindaugas Kuzminskas is guaranteed to pan out.

Lance Thomas can comfortably play both the 3 and the 4, and he will be the first small forward off the bench. If the Knicks go small with Thomas at the 4, however, then it would be beneficial to have another option at the 3.

Kuzminskas has the potential to be a high-quality player at the position, but if he doesn’t pan out, the Knicks will need insurance.

At the 2, Holiday has a powerful work ethic, but he has yet to truly establish himself in the NBA. Thus, while faith should be placed in him as more than just a throw-in, there’s yet another need for depth.

If Tokoto shows out in training camp, he could earn that position.
