2. Dominating For The Legends

On Tuesday, November 17, Kristaps Porzingis officially arrived on the scene. It was his first eruption as a scorer, as well as the first game during which he specifically led the New York Knicks to victory.

Most significantly, Porzingis had his breakout moment in front of the three greatest players in franchise history: Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, and Willis Reed.

Ewing is and was an assistant coach for the team Porzingis torched: the Charlotte Hornets. Frazier was on commentary for MSG Network and Reed, the Knicks’ only league MVP, was sitting courtside as a fan.

With the three greatest players in franchise history all sitting courtside, Porzingis posted a career-high 29 points and 11 rebounds as New York pulled out a 102-94 home victory.

This was as much of a statement game as any possibly could be. With three of the Knicks’ Mount Rushmore members all watching the game up close and in person, Porzingis gave credence to the belief that he could be the next to join them.

Porzingis still has an unspeakably high mountain to climb before he even enters that conversation, but this was a moment to forever remember.
