The New York Knicks have the talent to make the NBA Playoffs in 2016-17. In which area must every starter improve to ensure that transpires?

Come the 2016-17 season, the New York Knicks will have three starters who weren’t on the roster in 2015-16. New York will also have a new sixth man, meaning four of the first six players on the depth chart will be fresh faces.

Though it looks promising on paper, the Knicks need the new additions and returning starters to continue to improve their game.

Phil Jackson acquired point guard Derrick Rose, shooting guard Courtney Lee, and center Joakim Noah. In 2016-17, that trio will join small forward Carmelo Anthony and power forward Kristaps Porzingis in the starting lineup.

Every one of those players brings something special to the table, but they also have areas of weakness or inconsistency that must be improved upon.

The good news for the Knicks is that every one of these players has a correctable flaw. Thus, while optimism may have existed entering the 2015-16 season, there’s a more realistic sense of hope as 2016-17 nears.

The question is, in which areas must the Knicks’ starters improve in order for New York to maximize its full potential?
