Phil Jackson and the New York Knicks have effectively built the 2016-17 roster. The rotation has yet to be crafted, and the manner in which minutes will be distributed is still up for debate, but the roster is solid as is.

With a number of recognizable players still available on the free agency market, however, the opportunity to sign a quality player to a prove-it deal certainly exists.

In some instances, a veteran player has fallen out of favor and needs to redeem themselves in the eyes of the masses. Said contributors could play with a chip on their shoulder, thus offering New York a quality return on a low-risk gamble.

In other cases, a young player hasn’t quite established themselves, but could be a solid addition for the purpose of creating depth.

Regardless of the reason, the opportunity exists for New York to make a sneaky and productive late signing. The cost would be minimal, and the reward could be strong enough to add a new and vital element to the rotation.

The question is, which available free agents should the Knicks consider signing for the veteran’s minimum?
