Two years ago, Sasha Vujacic wasn’t in the NBA. The reasons were obvious why he was playing overseas. But when the New York Knicks signed him last year, it sounded as if the ex-Laker was a veteran coming in to help teach the Triangle Offense.

When Kurt Rambis took over, Vujacic’s minutes increased and he even started in place of Arron Affalo.

The move made no sense unless the Knicks just wanted Affalo to opt-out so his salary wouldn’t hit their cap. If that was the case, then the Knicks succeeded. The Knicks re-signed Vujacic this offseason for the veterans minimum.

If he is an extra body for practice proposes, an insurance policy in case Brandon Jennings and Derrick Rose go down, and a teacher of the triangle, then this signing makes sense.

If he’s vying for the starting shooting guard position again, Knicks fans will riot. Knicks fans will even be upset if Vujacic is the second-string shooting guard.
