Kirk Hinrich

Age: 35 (1/2/1981)
2015-16 Slash Line: .380/.387/.938
2015-16 Season Averages: 13.7 MPG, 3.0 PPG, 1.6 APG, 1.5 RPG, 0.5 3PM

Cut from the same cloth as Steve Blake, Kirk Hinrich has established himself as one of the most respected players in the NBA. A true competitor with a wealth of knowledge and a well-rounded game, Hinrich would be a great add for the locker room.

Still an outstanding shooter who competes defensively, Hinrich would provide the depth that the New York Knicks so clearly need.

Hinrich is past his prime, but the Knicks’ need for depth has more to do with security than production. Hinrich would offer that as a player who can provide a valuable veteran presence both on the court and in the locker room.

For what it’s worth, the Chicago Bulls had a net rating of -0.9 with Hinrich on the floor and -2.0 without him in 2015-16—a sign that he can still make a positive impact.

Phil Jackson has done an outstanding job of finding high-character players who have a chip on their shoulders. Hinrich would help the Knicks continue to build a team with such an identity, and that alone is reason to consider him.

The fact that Hinrich has already been teammates with both Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah is an added—and extraordinarily valuable—benefit.
