2. Stability

By signing Courtney Lee, the New York Knicks have found what every team strives for: stability. Whether or not Lee is the starting shooting guard for the duration of his four-year contract, he projects to be a solid and reliable player at the 2 for every one of those seasons.

As New York attempts to build around the star-caliber trio of Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick Rose, stability is all the team can really ask for.

Despite playing for six teams in eight seasons, Lee has crafted a reputation as one of the better non-stars in the NBA. He’s overcome constant changes to provide a consistent impact on the teams he’s played for.

Now on a four-year contract, a long desired sense of stability should enable Lee to play at the highest level of his career.

Lee is an efficient player, as evidenced by his career average of just 1.0 turnover in 27.3 minutes, and career slash line of .450/.384/.846. He’s also a respected defensive player with 41 career starts in the playoffs.

Considering the Knicks have started a handful of players at shooting guard over the past three seasons, merely knowing who’s going to take the floor at the 2 should be a relief.
