5. Offensive Versatility

The New York Knicks received a quality impact from Arron Afflalo in 2015-16 on the offensive end of the floor. Though he didn’t live up to the hype, he provided a well-rounded impact that would’ve been greater had he been used in a complementary role.

Courtney Lee’s offensive game is quite similar to Afflalo’s, and unlike Afflalo, Lee will be used in a complementary role.

Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and Derrick Rose will be the focal points of Jeff Hornacek’s offense. Thus, Lee will step in as a player who can score, but will be tasked with playing off-ball and creating in a pinch.

Lee can thrive in said role, as evidenced by his shooting 40.3 percent on catch-and-shoot 3-point field goals in 2015-16.

When Lee is tasked with creating, he’s a solid straight-line finisher with solid touch around the basket. In a system that will enable him to attack closeouts instead of having to break an opponent down, Lee can produce with volume and efficiency.

For what it’s worth, the Charlotte Hornets had an offensive rating of 111.4 with Lee on the court and 104.1 without him in 2015-16.
