Hassan Whiteside is one of the most coveted free agents on the open market. Should the New York Knicks make a run at attaining his services?
After LeBron James and Kevin Durant, the 2016 free agent market is devoid of superstar talent. Andre Drummond is on the right path, but the Detroit Pistons hold his restricted free agency rights, and are widely expected to match any offer he receives.
After trio, however, is a wildcard in the superstar debate: unrestricted free agent center Hassan Whiteside.
Two years ago, it would’ve been asinine to suggest that Whiteside has superstar potential. After a brilliant 2015-16 campaign, however, many have become enamored with Whiteside’s upside.
Though no concrete evidence exists of the New York Knicks’ interest in Whiteside, it stands to reason that he’s on the radar.
Whiteside is a 7’0″ and 265-pound center with a 7’7″ wingspan and a mean streak. He led the NBA in blocks per game in 2015-16, and played an instrumental role in the Miami Heat winning 48 games.
The question is, would Whiteside be worth the investment for the New York Knicks? The answer is unequivocally yes.
