There are few players more valuable to the New York Knicks than those who can enliven Madison Square Garden. A recent example would be Steve Novak, who played an invaluable role for the 2012-13 Knicks as a timely 3-point shooter who could swing momentum with just one shot.

Jamal Crawford isn’t the shooter that Novak is and was, but his ball-handling has proven to be a show for the ages at Madison Square Garden.

For those unfamiliar, Crawford played for the Knicks from 2004 until 2008. Since his departure, he’s set an all-time record by winning an unmatched three Sixth Man of the Year awards.

Simply put, Crawford is instant offense when he steps onto the floor, gets the ball in his hands, and goes into isolation.

Crawford’s handles are as appealing to a New York crowd as any in the world. He plays a street-ball style with NBA precision, and merely putting an opponent on skates would energize The Garden.

If all else fails, Crawford is one of the most respected and beloved players in the NBA. He’d be great for the locker room.
