1. Handling The Pressure

New York City isn’t for everyone. Those who can handle it believe it to be the best city in the world, but the pressure it places on every member of the five boroughs—namely the stars that said citizens idolize—is incomparable to anything else in the world of sports.

Not many players are capable of handling the pressure of playing for the New York Knicks, but Jeremy Lin is one of them.

Even if Derrick Rose were to play in all 82 games, the Knicks need a backup point guard who can shoulder a heavy workload. Jeff Hornacek’s offense utilizes multiple ball-handlers, and Rose’s injury history creates the demand for a contingency plan.

If Jeremy Lin has proven anything, it’s that he’s capable of handling the pressure of playing in New York.

If Rose plays all 82 games, then Lin can step in as a versatile backup who can thrive with or without the 2011 NBA MVP on the floor. If he does miss time, then Lin is equipped to spot time as the starter under coach Hornacek.

The Knicks need depth as much as they need star power, and in New York, Lin would provide a certain measure of both.
