To properly complement Derrick Rose, the New York Knicks need a player who can space the floor and compete defensively. Nicolas Batum’s ability to facilitate would be helpful should Rose get hurt, but there are only so many playmaking shooting guards on the market.

Kent Bazemore isn’t the best assist-man you’ll come across, but his specialty is exactly what New York needs: 3-and-D.

Bazemore has shot 35.4 percent or better from beyond the arc in consecutive seasons. He also converted 37.1 percent of his 3-point field goals during his brief stint with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2013-14.

Thus, it stands to reason that he’d be able to find the mark with consistency under head coach Jeff Hornacek.

In 2015-16, Bazemore converted 38.9 percent of his 3-point field goals in catch-and-shoot situations. Defensively, he held opponents to 41.6 percent shooting from the field while facing 8.7 shots per game.

An explosive athlete who can shoot and defend multiple positions, Bazemore would be a very nice addition for the Knicks.
