Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers, albeit to a lesser extent than the Boston Celtics, have an impressive collection of draft picks. Philadelphia is slotted to select prospects at No. 1, 24, and 26 overall, which creates both flexibility for the team, and a possibility for the New York Knicks.

Bryan Colangelo wants to lead a quick turnaround, and thus, may be more inclined to execute a trade than rely on rookies.

The unfortunate reality here is that the 76ers won’t be willing to trade one of their three draft picks without a healthy return. Jose Calderon‘s contract is admittedly appealing due to the 76ers’ need to meet an expected $84 million salary floor.

The 76ers simply wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to draft a first-round talent just to land Calderon’s expiring contract.

New York may have to offer Jerian Grant, whose brother Jerami Grant is already on the 76ers. If that proves to be the case, then it’s unlikely that Phil Jackson or Steve Mills would pull the trigger on this move.

If the Knicks can somehow convince the Sixers to part ways with the No. 26 pick without losing much in return, however, then this could be worth pursuing.
