New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have back-to-back selections in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft. New Orleans is also without a first-round draft pick, which implies they’re hoping to make use of both the No. 39 and No. 40 spots.

After handing a horrendous contract to Omer Asik, however, a deal could be a possibility.

The Pelicans are a very unlikely candidate to be willing to sell a draft pick to the Knicks. A trade would be the more likely scenario, and New Orleans could have its eyes set on Kyle O’Quinn to help round out the interior.

In that situation, the New York Knicks would need to weigh its trade options against what O’Quinn brings to the table.

By landing a Top 40 selection, the Knicks would have an opportunity to select a player with Round 1 talent. Any lower and things get tricky, but New York could make a serious splash at No. 39 or No. 40 overall.

This would likely require a trade rather than cash, but it’s something worth considering.
