Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have an unfathomable number of draft picks. Not only is Boston—which won 48 games in 2015-16—slated to select a prospect at No. 3 overall, but it also owns picks No. 16, 23, 31, 35, 45, 51, and 58.

The odds of the Celtics putting all eight draft picks to use are slim, to say the very least.

It’ll be tough to purchase a first-round selection, but the New York Knicks could potentially acquire the No. 35 or No. 45 selections. Boston will likely look to package those draft picks in a trade for an established name, but if it fails to, then selling them off could be an option.

New York is willing to spend money on a draft pick, and that would provide Boston with more flexibility down the road.

Clearly, helping a division rival potentially securing a star-caliber player isn’t the most appealing of situations. Thus, it’s quite likely that the Knicks will follow a different path to acquiring a draft pick.

With that being said, the money New York spends on a draft pick won’t determine if or when Boston makes a move.
