Isaiah Whitehead, Seton Hall Pirates

Position: Shooting Guard
Age: 21 (3/8/1995)
Height, Weight, Wingspan: 6’4.5″, 210, 6’8.75″
Slash Line: .379/.365/.760
Season Averages: 32.3 MPG, 18.2 PPG, 5.1 APG, 3.6 RPG, 1.4 BPG, 1.2 SPG, 2.4 3PM

At his very core, Isaiah Whitehead is a lethal 3-point shooter who can put the ball on the floor, facilitate, and make plays defensively. The Seton Hall Pirates star is more complex than that, but those are the basic strengths of his game.

The New York Knicks are clearly intrigued enough to be working Whitehead out.

A workout is not a guarantee of draft-night interest, but instead a sign that the Knicks are doing their due diligence. Whitehead certainly fits a need at shooting guard, but his inefficiency from the field is troubling.

The hypothesized scenario, however, would be that Whitehead is groomed as an off-ball 3-and-D threat who can create in a pinch.

Whitehead has a strong build for a shooting guard at just under 6’5 and 210 pounds with a 6’9″ wingspan. He made 81 3-point field goals on 36.5 percent shooting in 2015-16, and did an excellent job of getting to the free throw line.

Whitehead will need to improve the reckless nature with which he attacks the basket, but he’s already a threat from beyond the arc.
