The New York Knicks have a need for a shooting guard, and few are better in this draft class than Malcolm Brogdon. Unfortunately, Brogdon will turn 24 years old in the second full month of his rookie NBA season.

Brogdon may have what seems like a shorter shelf life than most prospects, but he’s as safe of a selection as you’ll find in Round 2.

Brogdon has a prototypical build for an NBA shooting guard at 6’6″ and 223 pounds with a 6’11” wingspan. He’s also a consistent 3-point shooter who moves well without the ball, has a killer midrange game, and has shown respectable handles.

Most importantly, Brogdon won the 2016 NABC Defensive Player of the Year award, as well as the 2015 and 2016 ACC Defensive Player of the Year awards.

Brogdon has tremendous defensive potential as an NBA-caliber athlete with the size, length, and athleticism to hold his own at the 2-spot. His ability to knock down the 3-ball and operate from midrange only adds to his appeal.

Brogdon can essentially be Arron Afflalo with an emphasis on defensive consistency.
