Every championship team a cast of contributors who keep the squad together during trying times. Which glue guys can the New York Knicks find in free agency?

Stars win championships in the NBA, and there are few exceptions to that objective belief. A vast majority of the teams that have won the Larry O’Brien Trophy have done so with at least one star to step up in the biggest of moments.

Beyond the star power, however, is an undeniable need for players who can do the little things that most are unwilling to do; the proverbial glue guys.

A glue guy is a player who bridges the gap between the stars and the role players. One could make a case that Robin Lopez already qualifies as such, but New York needs more players like him.

With Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis already on the roster, the New York Knicks are already close to being a postseason team.

From diving for a loose ball to hitting finding the bottom of the net in the midst of a cold spell to committing a technical foul that fires up their teammates, glue guys step up when no one else will. They become leaders in trying times, and make plays when the stars are unable to.

The question is, who might the Knicks find on the open market to fill that vital role?
