Pro: Master Facilitator

There is no point guard better at accumulating assists than Rajon Rondo. Rondo is a master at identifying an opening in an opposing defense, and exploiting it with an accurate pass to create a scoring opportunity.

As the New York Knicks search for a facilitator to run the offense, no free agent is quite as intriguing as Rondo.

2015-16 marked the third time Rondo has led the NBA in assists, and the fourth time he averaged at least 11.0 dimes per game. He averaged 1.3 more assists than any other player in the NBA, and held a significant edge in the advanced metrics, as well.

Rondo led the league with each of the following per game averages: 27.1 points created via assists, 21.5 potential assists, and 74.2 passes made.

Under head coach Jeff Hornacek, who helped Goran Dragic make an All-NBA Team, it stands to reason that Rondo would thrive. He’d have a surplus of screens to play off of, and would be the perfect penetrating guard to lead Hornacek’s offensive attack.

Carmelo Anthony, Robin Lopez, and Kristaps Porzingis can only benefit from playing with a point guard who can provide them with efficient scoring opportunities.
