2. The Friendship

Arguably the most valuable selling point the New York Knicks possess is the friendship shared by Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. Both players grew up in the Maryland area, which likely played a role in the development of their friendship.

Having won an Olympic gold medal together in 2012, it stands to reason that the duo could be interested in taking that success to the Association.

Anthony has been in Durant’s position before. He, like Durant, is one of the greatest scorers of all-time, but has yet to win a championship and weighed a move from a smaller market, Denver, to a major market, New York.

If anyone can be a mentor and friend to Durant in one of the most difficult times of his career, it’s Anthony.

We don’t need to further break down the foundation of Anthony and Durant’s friendship; the important note is that it exists. Thus, in response to Anthony stating that he’ll be recruiting free agents, one can’t help but feel as though he should have Durant in his crosshairs.

If Anthony can convince Durant that New York is the right place for him, the four-time scoring champion could potentially opt to sign with the Knicks.
