Constant Motion

Jeff Hornacek’s offense can be described as one that constantly forces help. Many are aware of the up-tempo nature, but don’t confuse that with Hornacek running a system that relies entirely on a run-and-gun approach.

The true foundation for Hornacek’s offense is keeping his players in a state of constant motion.

No matter which play is run, all five players will play a role in the efficiency with which it’s executed. Whether it’s a flare screen, a run to the corner for a potentially open 3, or merely a show as a decoy, every player will factor into the end result.

In other words, all five players will be threats to score, and all five defenders will be held accountable.

That type of approach to offensive execution is one that tends to flourish. More importantly, it’s one that prevents opposing teams from hiding its more inconsistent players defensively.

If the Knicks have an athletic or positional advantage to exploit, Hornacek’s offense will enable it to do so.
