The New York Knicks have confidently entrusted the future of the organization to Kristaps Porzingis. The Latvian phenom stole the show in 2015-16, putting forth an effort that will not soon be forgotten.
The question is, what is it that makes the unanimous All-Rookie First Team selection so special?
The basics are quite obvious. Porzingis stands at 7’3″ with a 7’7″ wingspan, and moves well enough to defend multiple positions, attack an opponent off the bounce, and creatively finish around the rim.
Not many players have ever possessed that combination of virtues, and there’s no hyperbole about that.
Beyond the obvious is a combination of skills that have created an incomparable level of excitement amongst Knicks fans. He already does so many things well that it’s both frightening and exhilarating to imagine how good he could become.
