Brandon Bass, Player Option

2015-16 Team: Los Angeles Lakers
Age: 31 (4/30/1985)
Slash Line: .549/.000/.845
Season Averages: 20.3 MPG, 7.2 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.6 ORPG, 1.1 APG, 0.8 BPG

There’s something to be said for a player who consistently shows up. That may seem like an obvious enough statement, but it’s difficult to find players who shine in the role they’re assigned.

Former division rival Brandon Bass is one of the most dependable power forwards in the NBA.

Bass’ production may not jump off the page, but he’s one of the better role players in the NBA. He plays within himself, has range as a scorer, works on the offensive glass, and provides a physical edge defensively.

Most importantly, Bass is widely regarded as a positive influence in the locker room.

Assuming Bass turns down his $3 million player option for 2016-17, the New York Knicks should make a run at him. He sets hard screens and thrives from midrange, which are two skills that would help him excel under head coach Jeff Hornacek.

Beyond the basics, Bass’ 58 games of postseason experience would aid in the construction of a winning culture in New York.
