it’s important to remove one’s self from a moment and evaluate a full body of work. Thus, while this player may appear on the list because of their recent resurgence, they remain at No. 10 due to the absence of an ideal track record.

Dion Waiters may not be the most desirable option based on his full career arc, but his recent play should be acknowledged for what it’s been: impressive.

It may seem like forever ago, but Waiters was a Top 5 draft pick, and there were times that he backed the hype up. He averaged 15.9 points on a slash line of .433/.368/.685 during his second NBA season, and convinced many that he could evolve into a 20-a-night type of player.

The past two seasons have called that into question, as Waiters has shot below 40 percent from the field and drifted into the realm of general inconsistency.

In the 2016 NBA Playoffs, Waiters has played a mature and responsible game. That may be tough to believe, but he’s shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from 3-point range, and has become a committed defensive asset.

I couldn’t possibly justify paying more than the market price for Waiters, but if the former Syraucse Orange star can be had for a reasonable cost, it’d be worth looking into.
